Welcome to the website of the Chichester Aikido ClubAikido is a Japanese form of ‘bujutsu’, blending body, mind and spirit into a martial art. It is often referred to as being one of the more spiritual martial arts – sometimes considered as ‘moving zen’. Its basic principle is to blend with one’s assailant, using your attacker’s energy against them – ideally, no force is used so it’s great for men and women, the svelte and not-so-svelte. It’s great fun; a good form of exercise (one spends half the time being the ‘attacker’); strangely relaxing; teaches composure; improves posture and could be useful in a tricky spot. We practice twice a week at the Westgate Leisure Centre, Chichester. You don’t need to book any lessons – just turn up at the beginning of each class as and when it suits you. We always welcome new members. Practice times are
